Obscure Book of the Day: Silver Wedding: The Record of Twenty-five Royal Years, 1948

Published in 1948 by L.T.A. Robinson, L.T.D., “Silver Wedding: The Record of Twenty-five Royal Years” celebrated the silver wedding anniversary of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother) with a brilliant history of the Royal couple written by Louis Wulff, M.V.O. The book recounts the lives of the King and Queen from their childhoods to their courtship and their experiences once “Bertie” ascended the throne in 1936 in the place of his brother, “David” (King Edward VIII, The Great Kerfuffler ™) who abdicated to marry the Nazi-sympathizer/Lady-Boy* Wallis Simpson.

*(It was never proven that Wallis was a lady-boy, but she did like the Nazis.)

This magnificently produced book features dozens of historic photos as well as several color-plate fold-outs which were meant to be removed from the book and framed for display in the home. The Royal Couple is shown both in official portraits as well as candid moments at home during the Second World War and with their children, Princess Margaret Rose and Princess Elizabeth (now Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II).

Let’s take a look inside.
