Antique Image of the Day: A Jewelry Design by John Brogden

Watercolor Design for a Pendant
John Brogden, 1860
The Victoria & Albert Museum

Here, we see the design for a pendant from an album of designs produced for the firm of John Brogden (1864-1884).  I thought this sketch would look something like those that Mr. Punch was making in our online story, Mr. Punch of Belgrave Square.

The album contains 1,593 designs for jewelry and goldsmith's work dating between 1848 and 1884.  This particular design shows a depiction of gold pendant in the form of a padlock, with turquoise stones.  It was made ca 1860 for the Brogden firm.
